Design Thoughts:
- Colors: The peach background, the red logo, the white lettering, box, and outline match and bring out the various shades of the same colors in the photo. The dark blue lettering and blue box are complimentary to the light peachy orange.
- Alignments: The lettering groups are all aligned left, connecting them in a straight line down the left side of the page.
- Repetition: The repetition of the lettering in the headings and text and the colors of blue and white unifies the design and ties the separate pieces together.
- Contrast: The contrast in the size of the words "You" compared to the text next to them, draws your attention to them. The contrast in the blue and white box makes the statement stand out and lets you know that the message is important concerning what the conference is about.
- Proximity: The words are grouped together according to their relationships.
- Photo: The large glasses on the girl and her intense gaze represent the word "focus." The girl also represents a studious individual who is interested in learning. Because she is one person, she also represents the individual and the word "you."
- Font: I used a sans serif for the titles and a serif for the text because serif is easier to read and sans serif is better for headings.
Photoshop:
- Drop Shadow Effects: I experimented with different drop shadows in the words to emphasize them.
- Stroke: I also used the stroke effect around the photo and the boxes to emphasize and set them apart from their background.
- I added space between certain text lines to emphasize and set them apart so they are easier to read instead of being grouped into one big mass.
- I organized the layers into groups so they are easier to find.
- I cropped the photo of the girl so the focus is on the girl and not the building that was in the image.
Photo and Fonts:
- The photo is from Gratisography. https://gratisography.com/#people
- The serif font "Playfair Display" is from 1001 Fonts. https://www.1001freefonts.com/search.phpq=Playfair+display&search=search
- The sans serif font "Montserrat" is from 1001 Fonts. https://www.1001freefonts.com/sans-serif-fonts.php
Version Two:
- I removed the drop shadow on some of the text because it made the text looked blurry.
- I made the Youcet and You the same size, and I made them bold to make them stand out more.
- The date, time, place, and Ucet logo was fading into the background so I changed the color of the date, time, and place to the same blue as other text, and I put a slightly opaque white rectangle behind the logo to give it a little more contrast.
- I decreased the size of the text in the blue and white box so the text wasn't sitting right next to the sides of the box.
